Curriculum vitae

Research activities and relations:

Peter Nissen Bjerring has conducted research in the Department of Hepatology, Rigshospitalet, Denmark since 2006 and is involved in several projects related to liver failure and encephalopathy. Peter Nissen Bjerring has published articles on clinical studies using the technique of cerebral microdialysis in patients with acute liver failure and animal models of encephalopathy - currently 17 peer-reviewed papers and an H-index=7. Peter Nissen Bjerring has used animal models to study both brain signaling during liver failure and the effect of pharmacological intervention based on the current understanding of the pathophysiology involved in brain oedema formation during hepatic encephalopathy. Peter Nissen Bjerring has collaborated and co-authored with Prof. Nicholas Dale from University of Warwick, School of Life Sciences, UK and is currently working on a clinical project with focus on hepatic encephalopathy and sleep disorders in collaboration with Sara Montagnese, University of Padua, Italy.

Peter Nissen Bjerring is a member of the Danish Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology (DSGH) and is also a member of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) and the Editorial Board of the peer-reviewed paper World Journal of Hepatology.
