Acute liver failure and brain metabolism during hyperammonaemia

Based in the Department of Hepatology, Rigshospitalet since 2006 I have published articles on clinical studies using the technique of microdialysis in brain tissue of patients with acute liver failure. In addition, I have worked with several animal  models of acute hyperammonaemia to study both brain metabolism and most recently autoregulation of CBF during liver failure and the effect of pharmaceutical interventions.

Funded by The Danish Council for Independent Research | Medical Sciences in 2015 my current research focus is on the dysfunctional neurovascular unit in hepatic encephalopathy.
